(More customer reviews)Oh Amazon! I am _so_ disheartened to see that you no longer carry this watch, as disheartened I am to see that Timex and Motorola no longer manufacture it. This watch was no Edsel, and I'm sorry to see it end up in a technology tarpit.
A co-worker of mine just recently (last five years) lost his hearing and he now has a Cochlear implant. They haven't made a cell phone to work with the Cochlear implant yet and this watch has been a godsend in helping us communicate with each other! We work on-call and it's imperative that I be able to rapidly get in touch with him. This watch was perfect for that! And because it was a watch, it was small, portable and just about perfect for the task and he always knew when someone was contacting him.
Not only was it a pager under SkyTel service, it could receive e-mail from cell phones, dispatcher computers and via the SkyTel website and news alerts from the wire services over Yahoo.
With the purchase of a new watch, you received a year of SkyTel service. This included service nationwide, voice mail for those who wished it, caller id and a toll free number to send unlimited pages or to leave/retrieve voice mail. Renewal of the agreement was but $99 a year! Where can you get a deal better than that???
So here, after two years of brutal use, both our watches are sick and dying. We need new ones Amazon! Find us some! The rubber watch bands are deteriorating, the buttons are getting loose and the electrical contacts are getting worn. If we can't put the pager on our wrist, we can't use it and don't want it.
