It is also remarkably functional, easy to read and, given all of it's functions, easy to operate. I've been surprised at the complements I've received on it and the surprise when they find out it's a Timex.

(More customer reviews)I had a previous Timex Expedition watch which I loved tremendously, but its strap was getting worn out and I couldn't find a similar replacement, short of buying an identical model, so I decided to get this instead. From the photos provided on Amazon, the watch seemed pretty unique, what with the brownish tint to the stainless steel cover, and its green interface. It's a darn cool watch in my opinion. The watch arrived as shown in the photo, I was a bit worried about the cover as photos of the same model on other sites showed a normal stainless steel cover, but that wasn't truly the case. I guess it was most probably the angle of the light hitting the watch when the photo was taken. From some angles it looked like normal steel, but from others, the brownish tint is fairly evident. My girlfriend was pretty impressed with the watch, especially with its price too. Not to mention the Indiglo feature, it really lit up the screen in total darkness.
The brown strap is one of the most comfortable leather straps I've tried on. I don't usually go for leather straps as they can often be hard and too rigid for my liking, but that's definitely not the case with this model. The strap is soft and mallable, fitting my small-sized wrist perfectly. The watch diameter is just perfect, large enough but not ostentious. The ticking of the watch was regular and not too loud, some Timex models have pretty loud ticking, but not this watch. All in all, I would recommend giving this watch a go if you're looking for something different!

I forgot to mention the Indiglo feature. VERY COOL!! The whole face lights up with a blue glow when you push the crown.

(More customer reviews)I have a Rolex Perpetual Datejust and a couple of Seikos. I have been wearing one of these Timex watches for two years. Why? The EasySet or Turn and Pull Alarm is the most useful feature I have ever had on my wrist. As far as I can tell it is unique. Here is how it works. There are two rotating bezels INSIDE the dial; one with a red pointer (for the hour) and one with a black pointer (for the minutes). Your third bezel is the big rotating OUTER bezel that does all the work.
Let's pretend you just called someone and got a busy signal. You don't want to forget to call back, so you reach down, grab the outer bezel, as you spin the outer bezel the inner bezels/dials begin to spin. In an instant you move the minute (black) pointer to ten minutes ahead of the current time. You let go of the outer bezel and pull the second crown (the one at four o'clock) all the way out (two clicks). You are done! In the time it took you to read the first six letter of this paragraph you are DONE. No other watch has an alarm this simple to use. I use it all day long as a reminder for those things that normally "slip" my mind.
I also use it for appointments constantly. All of us have the experience of having an appointment or call scheduled for 3:00 PM (for example) all day you are reminding yourself. You look at your watch about every twenty minutes and then you look down and you are five minutes LATE. You lost track of time! Thousands of watches have alarms but you never use them because you have to go thru too many steps to set them. This is where this Timex excels over every other watch I have.
If you want to set the alarm for more than sixty minutes just twist the bezel until you have both the black and red pointers at the time you want and pull the second crown half-way (one click). Note: This is a twelve hour alarm, you can not set it for more than twelve hours. That never bothers me, I use my cell phones kludgy but efficient day planner for those things.
The alarm is an adequately loud, louder than any of my Seikos. The Indiglo light flashes in time with the alarm and is bright enough that it makes it a cinch to find your watch on a nightstand in the dark!
My original watch has been banged, dropped, immersed, worn out two bands and still works perfectly. There is a black painted stripe inside the outer bezel that flaked after about a year to reveal a brass ring. Once the paint came off the brass ring actually looks better than the painted ring. The Indiglo dial is a Timex feature that rocks. It is super bright, but the color of blue doesn't seem to hurt my night vision. The illumination is probably too bright for life or death surveillance work, but unless terrorist snipers are hunting you in the dark you will be fine.
If you give speeches, teach or preach, this is a perfect time piece. Set it as you go to the lectern, when it beeps you can instantly silence it. It is so easy to set you can actually set it for another five or ten minutes WHILE YOU ARE SPEAKING.
Why do I have three? My first is two years old and still on its original battery. I loved it so much that I wanted a backup. That first model I have is no longer available so I tracked down this T47902 and bought two out of fear they might be discontinued. I may buy one or two more!
I am a gadget person and I have had watches that looked more complicated than a short course if Differential Equations, but this is USEFUL and USABLE. If it fits your needs you will be buying a spare just like I did.

(More customer reviews)At the risk of sounding like a snob, I never thought to purchase a Timex, in spite of the brand's long standing reputation for reliability at affordable prices. Most of my watch collection includes higher priced heirloom quality brands and models. I purchased this one using a Gift Certificate given to me by my employer. After just a few days I had discovered that I am glad I did.
This is a solid time piece. It appears outwardly to be well made and durable. I'm not sure how good the movement might be. Product specs reveal that the watch is made in the Phillipines and the strap is made in China.
Having said that, this is a good price for a shock-resistant and 100 Meter, (330 Ft), water resistant field watch. Timex, a world community manufacturer, has a great reputation for dependability and this is a good example of why. This is not a dive watch, but it is not intended to be one. It does one thing very well. It displays the time accurately and boldly, extremely readable in all light conditions, (The push-button "Indiglo" feature is awesome), and promises to be durable, rugged and well capable of providing years of faithful service in just about any kind of day to day use.
The case diameter is 40 to 42 MM depending upon where you measure it. The protective lugs at the knurled crown are a nice feature, usually found on more expensive brands and models. There is a rubber shock absorber between the stationary bezel and the case. Timex boasts a 10 year battery life, depending upon backlight usage. To my knowledge, no one else comes close to that with an analog quartz movement. If the watch lasts that long, it will have been worth the purchase price many times over. With a mineral crystal and well made leather band it really is a total package. This watch is manly in appearance, very comfortable on the wrist, and at a glance, it looks to be more expensive than it is. I have large wrists, but the watch and strap fit me comfortably with length to spare.
I am very happy with mine. If this is your style, you can't go wrong at this price.
Additional Note:
After more than 6 months since I made my purchase on this model, it has proven to be a real winner. It is the least expensive of any watch in my collection. And it is, HANDS DOWN, ABSOLUTELY THE MOST ACCURATE !!! The only one of my watches that comes close is my All Swiss Made "Swiss Army Aquagraph" dive watch, made by Wenger. (It too was bargain priced)
In six-plus months this watch has neither gained nor lost a single second, NOT ONE !!! I have no illusions about quality when dealing with low-priced Timex products. Most of my watches are considerably more expensive, and are, no doubt, better quality. But this one has been seeing alot of wrist time with me. Weightlessly comfortable to wear, attractive yet rugged in appearance -- Oh, and did I mention --- FLAWLESSLY ACCURATE !!!
I haven't put it to any kind of torture test. Not into that. But I would feel comfortable wearing this watch into any extreme field or work situation, especially considering the cost. From what I know of Timex, it would likely "Take a Licking and Keep On Ticking", laughing at my lack of faith.
If this is your style, get one -- you won't be sorry. It's one of the best low priced choices anywhere in the market.

It also has a rugged brown leather strap and features an ivory dial with black Arabic numerals. Aside from these appearance differences, everything else is the exactly the same. I compared the one shown here, side by side, with the model I eventually bought. Both were excellent, and in the end, my choice was simply one of personal preference.
In addition to the product description given, this model has a bronze finished stainless steel case and bezel. All of the rest is as described.

(More customer reviews)The first thing to note is that the Timex web site claims a three-year battery life, while Amazon claims eight years. I hope Amazon is right, but you should know what the manufacturer thinks ;)
My wife chose this watch because of its looks, and I must admit that it looks rather nice. This is definately no-frills. No compass, no alarm, no stopwatch. But it tells the time and date.
Besides looking sharp, my favorite thing is the size/weight -- it is rather thin and light. I wanted a watch with more features, but I could not stand the thought of something larger and heavier.
There is really not much to complain about. The date display is rather small. The band is also advertised as being "water resistant leather" but I would not want to take it swimming. Only time will tell how it hold up. I also do not know why watch manufacturers continue to use cheap zinc glow powder for the hands. Newer strontium-based powders are available that still glow great after eight hours. Oh well, all manufacturers do this, and it can light up the entire face so the glow powder is really not even needed.
So, to summarize, it is small and light for a metal men's watch, and it looks great. Guys, one look at this and the ladies will know that you are a man who is comfortable in the deep woods.
