Timex Gold EZ Read Dress Watch Review

(More customer reviews)This is an attractive gold tone dress watch for a reasonable price. The 10 year battery life is a great feature... not so much for the cost of replacing the battery, but for maintaining the integrity of the water-resistant seal. Every watch I've owned in the past has lost its water resistance the first time the battery was replaced. The Indiglow night light makes this watch very easy to read at night too.
The gold tone expansion band is also quite attactive. Unfortunately, it has exceptionally sharp edges on the inside of the bracelet that scrape and pinch the skin whenever the band moves against the wrist. The band is also on the small side for a man's watch, so this makes it dig in even more. If you buy this watch, you may want to add in the cost of a more comfortable replacement watch band.

Yes the band broke just as I suspected it would a couple months ago. So this one lasted an even shorter time than the first..... So now I have 2 Timex sport watches with not band. Both still work well but are just used as dust catchers...

(More customer reviews)I've used Casios for many years and after the last one died after only two years, I started searching for a nice looking watch for a reasonable price. After eliminating countless models from Casio through Heuer, I rediscovered Timex, a brand I hadn't bought in 20 years.
I was concerned about the watch's face and band being too blue, but the color is quite dark. The light blue accents on the band look good. So far the case and glass face are quite durable. I paid something like $38--I would have trouble getting a metal cased Casio for this money.
I wonder about the battery life since I can hear the sweep second hand move from 8 inches away--must take a lot of battery power to generate that sound, which I believe is by design.

(More customer reviews)I've had one of these watches for several years. For my running it's been a good watch. The watch has a separate button for start and stop. Many watches today have just one button on the top face of the watch which is a start/split button. I don't want splits; I want a stop then a restart (just like a stop watch), but to do so, one needs to push a button on the side of the watch. During the summer, pressing a button on the side is OK. But, during the winter wearing gloves, it's not easy to find a button on the side. I don't use stop/split button watches.
The watch band on my original watch wore out, so I ordered this as a replacement. (I tried a new watch band first, but it was the wrong band.) This replacement watch, except for the color of the face, is the same watch I've had. But, the watch band is NOT the correct band for this watch.
So, great watch, poor watch band.

The most alarming problem seems to a concern that some day we'll need to replace the watch band... but this does not seem to have a replaceable band. Has my purchase of this watch just contributed to the success of planned obsolescence? Sigh. @Timex, hopefully you have a thoughtful, ecological plan for replacing these bands.
