Timex T79171 Youth digital/analog watch is reliable, durable, and readable in the dark, thanks to the integrated Indiglo night-light, but it's also flat-out fun to wear. The digital display shows a typical analog readout, with full Arabic numeral display and digital hands (with second hand). It also has a special push-button "shake me up" animation feature, which mixes up the numbers right before your eyes. This watch features a translucent blue resin case with silver top ring, blue polyurethane strap, chrono alarm timer, and water resistance to 30 meters (99 feet).
The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer.

We love these watches because they are good-looking and fun to watch the picture go around the face of the watch. But more importantly, as a parent, I really like these watches because the hour and minute hand are color coordinated with the numbers on the watch face, and the minute numbers are shown in counts of five. It makes learning how to read an analog watch much easier and fun for kids. It's proven to be durable and has a warranty in case your kid loses it (I know because it happened to one of our kids). I would highly recommend this watch and not get any other for a kid.

(More customer reviews)Unlike the previous reviewer, we thought this watch worked great and lasted very well. The watch keeps good time and has the Timex light which is nice for night time use. My son is allergic to base metals and this band has a cloth covering so none of the metal ever touches his skin, so he is on his 3rd watch now. Each one lasted about 2 years, which for a boy's watch is pretty good.

(More customer reviews)The band is stretchy and fits any wrist. My grandson, 2 1/2 years old, is enjoying learning about time. It has a hour, minute and second hand, all in different colors so it is easy to distinguish each. The little car attached to the second hand does not block the view of the numbers. Other watches have something attached to the second hand that blocks the view of the numbers. I wanted my grandson to be able to see all the numbers all the time.

Timex Kids' T7B081 Flames Stretch Band Watch Review

The Timex Kids' analog watches are brilliant. I would suggest this for any 3-9 year old, and for about $15, there is not a better watch on the planet. Easy to read, sized for kids, marked with cues to help younglings learn to tell time with a *real* clock rather than a digital, durable, and long battery life. The elastic strap isn't hard to adjust, and is soft enough for any kid.
I've never seen the movement fail, but after several years of abuse, I have seen one of the lugs for the strap break (this involved a kid jumping on it on concrete, I think). Even after amateur battery replacements, they haven't shipped any moisture.
The Indiglo (the dial glows a pale blue when you press the stem) is an excellent nightlight for a watch, and it will get a lot of use with most kids.
My family generally doesn't get toy tools. This is not a toy watch, but a real watch made for the conditions and extremes that the younglings will expose it to.

(More customer reviews)I've been a fan of sports watches for more than 10 years but prefer fabric watch bands/straps, as opposed to rubber straps/bands. This is the best watch of its kind by far. It's not my first Timex but they have improved the features. The best new (at least to me) feature is the Indiglo button being in addition to the usual 4 buttons to change mode, set, etc. As with prior Timex watches of this type, it has 2 time settings--great for travelers or just daylight savings time changes. I especially like that it has 3 separate alarm settings and each can be set for daily, weekdays, or weekends. With the addition of the Indiglo button, setting time and alarms is simplifed and quick because there's plus/minus buttons, as opposed to having to roll around to get an earlier hour/time. This is a great watch and a good value for the price. I am still waiting for my free baseball cap which was supposed to be part of the deal.

(More customer reviews)This is a great watch for kids. We bought this for our 5 yr. old to teach him how to tell time. The band is nice and stretchy and adjusts for every child's wrist size. The watch itself is very small in size and perfect for young children. This is smaller than a woman's size watch. The watch is very simple but the different colored hands and the minutes listed above the numbers make these very easy to teach kids how to tell time. I highly recommend this watch for young children.
