The photo appears to be a brighter forrest or hunter green which draws more attention to the eye than the actual muted olive color. So far, the performance has been very good. The test will be enduring the natural acidity of my skin. I expect to replace the band with a high performance synthetic rubber. The appearance and scale is distinctive and respectable. At a glance, the number reading and minute increments are clearly readable. While I am choosy and hard to honestly please about certain things; function, utility, aesthetics, value and such, I am finding that this watch has fulfilled my requirements in a time piece.

(More customer reviews)Saw this item in Details magazine and thought it was just what I wanted: a classic watch that I could wear dressy or casual, but inexpensive enough to not worry about scratching or losing.
What I couldn't see from the photo, however, was how THICK the case is. I didn't notice it right there in the product description (12 mm), but when I put it on my wrist, the fact that it's almost 1/2" thick is readily apparent.
On the wrist, it wasn't the sleek style I was looking for. Needless to say, I returned the item right away.

(More customer reviews)I already own the Timex Ironman 'Triathlon' GPS watch which I use for running. I wanted an inexpensive, but attractive, digital with a bit larger time display for casual wear - the time display on the Ironman is only about 2/3 the size of the 1440's. Setup was easy (normal display items plus daily alarm, 24-hour display and 'other' time zone); display size (the time, at any rate) is quite adequate; the watch is attractive. All the buttons worked fine for me . . . The only complaint I have is that the 'date' (day of month) display is easily partly obscured by any shadow cast by the high edge of the 1440 logo ledge at the top of the display. Also, the diameter of the face, at about 26mm, seems a tad small. However, this really is nit picking. The 1440 is a decent, attractive, 'name' digital at an unbeatable price!

(More customer reviews)There's a Brit saying: "Pay a cheap price, buy twice". Basically false economy rears it's ugly head - for example: you buy a cheap watch to try and save money only to find the watch broke after a short while and you having to buy ANOTHER watch to replace it.
This isn't the case with this watch. I opted for a sports watch because I was fed up to the bleedin' eyeballs with having chain link watches breaking all the time on me (and not all of them were that cheap either.) I also wanted a watch to go jogging with as well, so I opted for this beauty because of its price and its countdown timer.
I was not disappointed, it is a lot smaller than I thought it will be, which is a bonus as it is disheartneing to go jogging with what feels like a leadbrick swinging from your arm, but it still feels solid and compact all the time - what I am trying to say is that this Timex doesn't 'feel' cheap.
I wasn't expecting much with the watch but I am very please with it. I initially bought it as a cheap knockaround watch but I wear it all the time now!
The options are also fairly easy to use, stopwatch, countdown (upto an hour I think), alarm, etc. The illumination is also very good when in dark places.
I have had the watch one month so I cannot guarantee it will last a long time but so far I have no problems with it at all. Well worth the price though, and wouldn't swap this watch for most of the more expensive watches I have had.
There are cheaper watches out there, but for the extra pennies (or cents) it is worth getting this.

I have had two of this exact model and a couple of other Timex variants on the style, and I have addicted my mother to Indiglos. This model is sturdy, doesn't scratch too easily, and "take a lickin' and keep on tickin". After some years the Indiglo feature starts to wear out even with fresh batteries which is why I am getting a new one now. If you find them too plain there are a number of crazed ways to dress them up, many involving stretchy elastic with beads instead of the steel band that comes with the watch.
