(More customer reviews)Nice looking watch and compared to its size, it it not heavy. Note the size is 47 mm which is huge so if you are not looking for sporty oversize watch, this is not for you. Cons - the thickness of the watch surprised me even though I checked a size chart before buying. It has no perpetual calendar (really? In 2010 for this price?) and the manual is written to confuse you (as an example, it says pull the date knob out when you are supposed to unscrew it out. You will figure it out but they don't make it easy for you.)

(More customer reviews)I've used Casios for many years and after the last one died after only two years, I started searching for a nice looking watch for a reasonable price. After eliminating countless models from Casio through Heuer, I rediscovered Timex, a brand I hadn't bought in 20 years.
I was concerned about the watch's face and band being too blue, but the color is quite dark. The light blue accents on the band look good. So far the case and glass face are quite durable. I paid something like $38--I would have trouble getting a metal cased Casio for this money.
I wonder about the battery life since I can hear the sweep second hand move from 8 inches away--must take a lot of battery power to generate that sound, which I believe is by design.

You cannot see it in the pic but the Tochometer and minute rings around are actually higher and not flat with the main inner surface, which changes the looks a bit in real life. I like that color outlay and that leather strap- I will try to post some pics to show it since I could find any images of it before I bought it.
The chronograph feature (three small plates) is great for measuring time intervals and in practice is better that a stopper from me on a digital watch.
One thing that was not mentioned and that takes one star from it- there is no Indiglo light on it. I figure that it would kill the battery very quick since the chronograph must take a lot by itself- the battery life is 2 years. My Perpetual Calendar model had run on one battery for over 5 years before I smashed it accidentally. I can live without it but it should be mentioned since nowadays it is something that you would expect every Timex watch to have.

(More customer reviews)I'm more the utilitarian watch type. I like a simple, sturdy, easy-to-read, classic looking watch and this one definitely fits those criteria. I've tried three cheaper watches that look similar and each has held up for about a year before having a problem with either water, the face cracking, or the metal chipping.
I've only had this one for a month, but it seems much more solid than the other watches I've had trouble with. The price was also significantly cheaper on Amazon than any similar Swiss Army watches I could find elsewhere. One thing that I particularly appreciate is that it doesn't tick loudly as can be the case with some Timex Expedition watches. Also, this watch is a little larger than the other women's watches I have had, so it suits me, a small wristed fellow, quite well.

I have a very active lifestyle and I "fly" through these types of watches so I was not surprised when the Acyrilic scratched after just two days in the field. the water has not effected this watch either. in conclusion after thirty days of putting this watch to the test i would say that it meets my criteria for a "good work watch"... the three star rating is because the watch is perfectly designed to be a mid-range, moderate watch, no more no less.

The watch has Indiglo backlight in which the whole face lights up in a blue-green color so that you see silhouettes of the hands and numbers. The digital display inversely lights up (the numbers light up rather than the whole display). I've found the watch to decently comfortable to wear, though because the straps are simply held in and swivel on the pins, it tends to rotate around my wrist rather than stay in one spot. Also, the acrylic window just barely sticks out above the bezel, so it's relatively easy to scratch and scuff by accident. Lastly, the watch that I have ticks much louder than I expected - at arm's length I can hear the tick of the second hand.

It is a beautiful watch and keeps amazingly precise time; it has 38 jewels, is automatic but can be wound, and my only complaint does not concern the watch but my eyes, being sixty I find it hard to read the day counter, but the whole face is quite legible, and for this reasonable amount for someone wanting a beautifully finished quality automatic watch I recommend it.

The watch is easy to read and seems to be fairly accurate. It is somewhat thick so check that out. Thus far I am happy with it. I found a Timex velcro wrist band at Target which allows me to wear the watch as tight or loose as I wish. Seems to be a good product.

Timex Men's T49211 Expedition E-Instruments E-Compass Titanium Watch Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this watch based solely on the description and product photo. Compared to descriptions of other compass watches, I guessed it would be a more reasonably sized watch than one with an altimeter (one reviewer described as very thick). I was very pleased when I opened the box - for a sport watch it was appealing. However, I did have a couple issues that disappointed me. First was the stem coming completely out of the watch and falling on the floor when the little elastic stop (prevents running the battery down before delivery) was removed. I reinserted the stem - turned a couple times - it stayed in and functioned to set the watch, date and compass. I can only assume the water resistant capabilities have not been compromised. Second - calibrating the compass is a chore (to say the least). I finally got it to read somewhat near correct (+/- 30 degrees or so) by starting the calibration process and turning myself in a circle (twice). Overall: keeps time, easy to read at night, and the compass is a nice toy that only provides relative direction.

(More customer reviews)Pros: Works as advertised. Smooth operation: buttons and crowns are big and easy to push, pull, and turn. Easy to set alarm. Easy time zone changes. Chronograph functions. Split time feature. Quartz accuracy. Dial flashes when alarm sounds. Looks even better than the picture.
Cons: Dial contrast is not as pronounced as in picture, which makes it a little harder to see the hands without my glasses than I anticipated, but I can manage. Alarm is too quiet for me to hear in most circumstances, but I do have a profound high-frequency hearing loss. Young people won't be bothered by either of these issues.
I'm satisfied with the watch. It looks good and has good features.
Overall, a quality, high-tech look and function in a watch that is accurate, affordable and from a company that has a reputation for durable watches. Status hounds, look elsewhere.
Hadley Roma sells a black stainless bracelet that will fit this watch, but they also sell high-quality deployant clasps to fit the leather band, for those who don't particularly like buckled bands.
One more thing, if you don't read the instructions before you begin playing with the watch functions, you will think the watch is defective. The watch requires some simple to perform calibrations for the chronograph dials to function properly.
